I have been asked to write a little something about my favorite yarns, since, as this person pointed out, I seem to like pretty much everything. This is true. You would be hard pressed to find yarn I didn't like (unless it's furry, bright yellow, or made of acrylic). But, there is yarn and there is Yarn; here is a little bit about some of the fibers I have known and loved.
My lone skein of Elizabeth Lavold Silky Tweed. Why did I only buy one skein of it when I was on vacation?

I love this yarn-- the color, the hand, the....um, tweediness of it. I'm dying to knit with it, some cabled gauntlets maybe, only I can't. If I knit it, I wouldn't have the yarn anymore.
Not yarn precisely, but I recently learned to spin, and now there's a whole new category of fiber I want to hoarde: roving. Technically, I guess you call this sliver, but whatever you call it, its amazingly soft. I don't know what colors you're seeing on your monitor, but trust me, it doesn't do it justice.

Another yarn I love but hardly ever buy for myself:

My Noro Silk Garden Stash. Poor little guys, they look so lonely, huh?
Finally:

In my experience, the very best sock yarn ever. Shephard sock is warm, soft, and I don't care what you've heard, one skein CAN make a pair of socks. Having crazy short feet helps.
Also, I have it on good authority that the Baltic Sea colorway is the softest, and also grants wishes.
Okay, comic time!
